8. Increased Lawlessness and Decreased Love

“Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”

Prophecy Fulfilled from AD 1960 to AD 2025 (Present)

The many wars and rebellions that were already covered off in Section 4 definitely relate to this prophecy. That said, wars and conflicts do not always lead to civil unrest, lawlessness, and overall love growing cold. Additionally, the great falling away from Christianity in Section 8 also plays a large role in increased lawlessness; when nations and governments abandon the moral compass given to us from God through the Holy Bible, what’s right and wrong becomes flexible. Although there were isolated events and lawlessness throughout the past two thousand years, there was a clear shift in the 1960’s that led to a steady overall decrease in people’s spirituality and belief in God, especially in the West. This was caused by numerous factors, such as the popularization of the theory of human evolution, the belief that science and faith/spirituality were not compatible, and increased urbanization and individual self-reliance. The societal shift away from true Christianity – the righteous morals founded on Jesus’s teachings and other texts in the Bible – led to increased secularism and new beliefs and morals based on the ever-changing public opinion. These changes began a domino effect throughout culture which began to cause an increase in lawlessness and depression, and a decrease of human love. This was highlighted in the United States (US) when in AD 1963, the US Supreme Court banned prayer and the organized reading of the Bible for religious and moral instruction in Public Schools. The popularization of “self-love” in the same time period also contributed to the reduction of selfless love and the principle of putting others before yourself. Since AD 1960, the global average marriage rate has trended down and the global average divorce rate has increased by 251.8%. These societies have also seen an extreme increase in mental health issues, depression, and suicide, particularly among youth. The global moral decline, paired with the later increase of immigration of people who follow faiths with conflicting morals, continued over the next few decades, leading to an explosion in crime, civil unrest, violence, and government corruption. In AD 2024 alone there at least two confirmed attempts to assassinate the President of the US. In AD 2025, lawlessness is at an all time high and selfless love at an all time low.

We see daily headlines such as One Hundred Days of Lawlessness via Project Syndicate, When the Law Is Lawless via Academe Magazine, Violent crime in Canada has increased 30 percent in the last decade of recorded incidents via The Hub, Hate Crimes Reach The Highest Level In More Than A Decade via NPR, and Why the current global disorder will continue via Middle East Eye. It is clear that this prophecy has been fulfilled since at least the middle of the 20th century, and that true love is still trending down while global disorder is trending up. The call to endure until the end by standing firm on the righteous morals given to us in the Bible and remaining loving, even in these trying times, is still very applicable in our current world situation.
