9. Gospel Proclaimed Globally
“This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
Matthew 24:14
Prophecy (Probably) Not Yet Fulfilled
Although Christianity started out as a small group of Jesus’s disciples, the Christian faith grew at an estimated rate of 40% per decade. In AD 33 there were only approximately 1,000 Christians (0.000015% of the population). By AD 150 there were about 40,000 Christians. A couple hundred years later in AD 350, there were 34 million Christians in the known world (more than half of the Roman Empire)! Even with intense persecution, Christianity flourished and people continued to believe at an unprecedented rate. This pattern of growth continued over the next two millennium and the spread of the story of Jesus also led to almost all other religions to recognize and acknowledge Him in some way within their belief system. As of October, AD 2025, this prophecy does not appear to have been fulfilled. Currently, it’s estimated that 42% of the worlds population (3.45 billion people) have never heard the name of Jesus. The 10/40 Window is often called “The Resistant Belt” and includes the majority of the world’s Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists. That being said, there has been incredible effort in recent years to harness technology to bridge this gap and reach the unreached. YouVersion’s Bible for Everyone work in this area now estimates that the New Testament Bible will be translated for 99.9% of the world’s population by the year AD 2033 and available for free online. In addition to Bible translation efforts, large strides of proclaiming the good news of Jesus are being made through the free-to-watch TV show The Chosen; the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth, primarily set in Judaea and Galilee in the first century. The series depicts Jesus’s life through the eyes of the people who interacted with him, including the apostles and disciples of Jesus, Jewish religious leaders, Roman government and military officials, and ordinary people. Five of the planned seven seasons of The Chosen have been released. Season 7 is set to premier in March of AD 2028. What stands out about this show is that it is being translated (not just captioned, but also voiced over) into 600 languages to make it accessible for the global population. Outreach missions by the Come and See Foundation are also bringing projectors/equipment into remote areas to show unreached people the story of Jesus and the good news of the Kingdom in their own native language. This allows people who cannot read to instead hear and see the gospel come to life. It is difficult to estimate when the entire global population will have access to the good news of the Kingdom via human efforts due to the breakneck speed of technology and the many outreach efforts that are harnessing it to spread this news. Also, another important thing to note is that this prophecy may not be achieved by humanity alone. In Chapter 14 in the Book of Revelation (the final book in the Bible which foretells many coming apocalyptic events and the return of Jesus Christ), the following is written:
Then I saw another angel flying high overhead, with the eternal gospel to announce to the inhabitants of the earth—to every nation, tribe, language, and people. He spoke with a loud voice: “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship the one who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
Revelation 14:6-7
Shortly after this event, the return of Jesus is predicted:
Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and one like the Son of Man was seated on the cloud, with a golden crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.
Revelation 14:14
Additionally, there has been a large influx of reports (particularly among Muslims) of Jesus vividly appearing to them in dreams and visions. Some people who were either clinically dead or had near death experiences reported going to Hell and seeing demons prior to being resuscitated – many of these cases resulted in the person becoming a Bible-based Christian. This further expands on the view that the good news of the Kingdom may not reach the entire world through strictly human-traceable efforts and opens the door to the possibility that this prophecy may already be fulfilled.
